Talking Trance: An Interview with Chris Schweizer

Talking Trance: An Interview with Chris Schweizer

Chris Schweizer has quickly become one of the hottest names in trance the last few years. His productions feature breathtaking melodies, hard rolling basslines and atmospheric builds that cause every hair on listener’s necks to stand up on end. Just last week we were fortunate enough to grab a few minutes out of his busy schedule to catch up and talk about some of the things he’s been up to recently. Check it out below!

Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for us! How has your sumschweizer2mer been so far?

I’m from Argentina so its actually winter here. I gotta say its been really good, very productive!

Musically speaking, what have some of your influences been recently in comparison to a few years past?

I think there’s a lot of good music out there at the moment. Lots of creative producers making some awesome music for every genre.

You announced just a few weeks ago that you started working with BAN Talent. What brought about the change and what excites you most about it?

After some years of my career I thought it was time for a change. I’m really excited for the future, there’s some massive news that I’d like to share with you all but I just cant say anything just yet.

Just last week you gave away your huge bootleg of Lazer Beams. What drew you into the original and how has the reaction been to your own spin on it?

Actually it was my girlfriend’s idea, so props to her! I think the bootleg came pretty well, it got played by the big names like Armin, Kearney, JOC, Ben Nicky & many more, so yeah.. It turned out great!

Tell us about your new collaboration with Ben Nicky, The Switch.

I’m really excited about this one. Its a crossover between uplifting & tech trance. It has the banging part and the melodic part. Cant wait for this one to be out!

What’s it like working with Ben?

It was easy. We know each other for some years now so we get along pretty well. We actually started the idea like 2 years ago when he came to my studio in Argentina, but got to finish it just now.

the switch

Do you have any other new productions that you’re working on that you can tell us about?

Oh, I have plenty. I have a collab with Standerwick coming out now in WAO138 label, the collab with Ben Nicky, a remix I did for Armin (which is featured on his ASOT Ibiza comp), ‘Scorpion’ follow up & tons of new tunes. I just can’t wait for all of them to be released!

What’s next for you as an artist?

For now I’d like to keep releasing my songs. I’m feeling very good about my music and I really want to share a message, through my music, to the people listening.

Do you have any big plans for the rest of this summer?

I’m keeping myself really busy. Lots of studio sessions as I have to finish some tracks. There’s also touring, so yeah.. Everything covered for now.

Have you joined in on the Pokemon craze? Have you caught them all yet?

Not really. I’m a big fan of the elder Pokemon games, the ones for Gameboy (like Pokemon Red), those are my things!

Of course we have to give a huge thank you to Chris for taking the time to chat with us. Always love catching up with the guys who produce the music we love rocking out to! Chris’s huge remix of Lazer Beams is available as a Free Download here! His latest collaboration with Standerwick, Predator, is available everywhere now, Click Here! And make sure you’re on the lookout for his new production with Ben Nicky, The Switch, release date TBA.
